A leading provider of voice-directed hardware and software solutions contacted Alliance for guidance. The client wanted to implement end-to-end automation for testing of flow from hand-held voice activated hardware devices to the enterprise application suite. The goal of the testing project was to define a return on investment business case for automation using a prototype-based approach. 

 
BUSINESS CHALLENGE 
  • Improve quality, faster time to market while reducing overall costs of testing. 
  • End-to-end System Regression Testing to decrease defect seepage into implementations. 
  • Develop Lights out Test Lab to execute test scripts in an automated fashion.

  • Designed matrix for evaluation of key features against a set of open source and COTS automation tools. 
  • Established a test lab offshore to evaluate the product against various open source and COTS automation tools. 
  • Created POC using HP QC and HP QTP solution to demonstrate the proposed automation architecture and solution.

  • Created automation framework and guidelines document for the proposed automation architecture and solution. 
  • Identified functional changes in the enterprise platform and embedded hand-held voice device software for supporting nights-out lab. 
  • Prepared a ROI-based business case for automation.
